A 43-year-old Gananoque man has been charged with impaired driving after he allegedly crashed his vehicle into a parked car that was sent flying into another vehicle.
Kingston police said a man was speeding in a Dodge on Montreal St. in Kingston at around 11 p.m. on Thursday, when he lost control and collided with a parked Mazda. The Mazda was launched airborne and collided with a Ford Ranger, which was slightly damaged. The suspect, who sustained minor injuries, allegedly blew more than twice the legal limit. Charged with impaired driving is Michael Edward Genge, 42, who was on parole at the time and has since had his parole revoked.
DOG MAULS OWNER
CAMBRIDGE -- A Cambridge man is in serious condition after his pit bull turned on him and seriously mauled his left arm yesterday. Ron O'Neill, the man who rescued the owner, said he was returning from a horse race at about 1:15 a.m. when he saw a dog tearing at a man's arm. O'Neill confronted the dog and kicked it until it let go and walked away. "When he was chewing him up, the dog looked at me. It was kill. He was killing this guy," he said. Police later found the dog at its house, where it began acting aggressively. An officer fired several shorts and the dog died from a single bullet to the head.
ACTIVIST BAILED OUT
VANCOUVER -- A California woman who has been denied refugee status and ordered to return to the U.S. to face marijuana charges was granted bail yesterday as she fights her extradition. Renee Boje's case was adjourned until Sept. 30 in B.C. Supreme Court. Boje lives in Vancouver with her Canadian pot-activist husband Chris Bennett and their young child. Bennet said Justice Minister Irwin Cotler's decision to deport Boje was based on politics. "He used my wife as a gold chip in the world of commerce with America to continue to ensure trade relations and other relations with America," he said.
